Barack Hussein Obama is reportedly planning to jet off on vacation as soon as he hands over the White House to Donald Trump. However, Obama’s staffers don’t have anything nearly as exciting to look forward to, as it has just been reported that most of them are in panic mode after not being able to find other jobs.
Politico reported that after Trump’s win, outgoing Obama employees and loyalists to failed Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton have found few job prospects for themselves.
“It feels like there are just thousands of us trying to find a job, and there are no jobs,” said longtime Clinton aide Mira Patel, who had worked for Clinton since she was in the Senate.
The Blaze reported that Trump’s win meant that there were no longer 4,000 presidential appointed jobs for Democrat operatives to apply for. Clinton aides seem to be having the hardest time both practically and emotionally, as they were convinced they’d be set for the next four years since they were sure she’d win.
“There’s anger, there’s frustration, there’s anxiety, there’s burnout,” said Russ Finkelstein, a managing director at Clearly Next and longtime progressive career guru who has been working to counsel Clinton aides.
“People are in shock,” said Anastasia Kessler-Dellaccio, 35, who quit her job at Sister Cities International to run Foreign Policy Professionals for Hillary.
“I think people, myself included, are trying to figure out, ‘How do I recalibrate my dreams?’” she added.
Obama claimed he would do whatever he could to help his staffers find jobs.
“The president made it a priority to ensure that, throughout his administration, employees had access to professional development resources and tools to help them advance in their careers and transition to new opportunities,” said White House spokeswoman Brandi Hoffine.
However, Obama’s efforts don’t seem to be getting his staffers very far…
It’s hard to feel pity for these staffers when they were so confident that Clinton would win that they failed to develop backup plans for themselves. Consider this a life lesson on what happens when you get too cocky, kids!
