The city of Chicago, Illinois continued it’s descent into violence this past weekend as at least 6 people were killed and 17 were injured in shootings between Friday evening and Monday morning.
ABC 7 reported that the last shooting occurred at 4:33pm on Sunday, as six men were standing in a group on a city sidewalk. A white, four-door car, possibly a Cherolet Impala, pulled up and several gunmen got out and opened fire, killing two of the men and injuring the other four.
The victims have not yet been identified, but the two deceased men were aged 27 and 23 respectively.
Courtney Lewis, 20, was killed at 12:30pm on Sunday when he was sitting in a car with three other people. A gunman opened fire on them, shooting Lewis twice in the back. One of his companions, a 19 year-old man, was also shot in the back and is listed in critical condition.
A 23 year-old man was shot dead at 11:40pm Saturday night as he sat in a parked vehicle. Two males walked up to his car and shot him in the head and chest, killing him instantly.
Though Chicago has some of the strictest gun laws in the U.S., it continues to have some of the highest crime rates in the country. This just goes to show that stricter gun laws do not lower the number of crimes in a city at all…
