Two people were killed and another two people were injured on Monday afternoon after a gunman opened fire near a school in North Philadelphia.

ABC 7 reported that police were called around 3:30 p.m. for the report of shots fired. When they arrived at the apartment in the 1100 block of West Stiles Street, they found four shooting victims.

One of the victims had been shot multiple times in the head, according to police. Two victims were taken to Hahnemann University Hospital, where one was pronounced dead. The other, a 26 year-old, remains there in critical condition.

The other two victims were taken to Temple University Hospital, where one died. The other is still in critical condition there.
Police believe the shooting was related to drugs, as they found drug paraphernalia on the scene. The shooting occurred across the street from the St. Malachy School, which was placed on lockdown immediately after the gunshots were fired.

“We were in the school and all you hear were multiple gunshots. Then it got silent for a second. Then we hear we’re on lockdown and nobody can get in or out,” 12-year-old student Awtum Mintze said.

The gunman remains at large at this time, as no arrests have been made. We will update you further as this story develops.
